Why we made tappey

When our son started bringing home drawings, paintings and little creations from nursery and school, we loved every single one.

Like most parents, we covered the fridge with them, lined them up on shelves and kept adding to the growing pile on the kitchen side. Every picture felt special because it captured a little moment in his childhood. The way he was learning, growing and seeing the world.

But after a while, we realised we were running out of space.

We didn't want to throw things away because it felt sad and guilty, but we also knew we realistically couldn't keep every piece of paper, every painting and every cardboard model forever. At the same time, taking photos on our phones didn't really solve the problem either. The memories just disappeared into thousands of other photos and were rarely looked at again.

Living in Norfolk, with family spread around the country, we also wanted an easy way for grandparents and family members to see the things our son was so proud of creating, without constantly sending photos backwards and forwards.

That's where the idea for tappey came from.

We wanted something simple that would help families keep the memories without keeping all of the clutter. A way to save the special creations, the funny little drawings and the proud school moments properly, so they could still be looked back on years later.

tappey lets you build a digital collection of your child's artwork and memories that you can open with a simple tap of your phone. It means you can finally recycle some of the originals without feeling like those moments have been lost forever.
