The basics

What is a tappey?
A premium, sturdy keepsake (approx. 88.5 × 107.5 mm, a polaroid-ish footprint, 5 mm thick) with your chosen photo printed directly onto the front. An embedded NFC chip (like the one in your contactless cards) and a built-in magnet sit inside, with a backup QR code printed on the back so it works with any phone. Tap any modern phone to it and a private photo album opens in the browser. No app, no account, no subscription. The owner taps to add new photos; everyone else taps to see the album as it grows.
Do I need an app?
No. Tapping a tappey opens your gallery in your phone's browser. There is nothing to download or sign in to for viewing.
Is there a subscription?
No. One payment per tappey. Uploads, storage and sharing are all included, forever.
How big is a tappey?
Approx. 88.5 × 107.5 mm (a polaroid-ish footprint), 5 mm thick. Magnetic, with an adhesive metal plate included for non-fridge spots.
Does the tappey have a screen?
No. It is a high quality printed keepsake that allows you to open a specific private gallery with a single tap, to add and view photos.

Will my phone work?

is my phone supported?

Search for your model. Tap means NFC works out of the box. QR means use the QR code on the back of every tappey instead, the album opens just the same.

Not exhaustive. If your phone supports Apple Pay or Google Pay, it has NFC and will work. Older devices and a few budget models don't have NFC, but the QR on the back of every tappey opens the same album.

Which phones can tap a tappey?
Search your model above. As a rule, if your phone supports Apple Pay or Google Pay, it can tap a tappey. Older phones use the QR code on the back instead, which opens the same album.
What if NFC is turned off or my phone is older?
Every tappey has a QR code printed on the back. Open your camera app, point it at the QR, and the same album opens. So even an iPhone 8 or a Kindle Fire can view a tappey gallery.
Do I need to enable anything on iPhone?
iPhone XS and newer read tags from the lock screen automatically. iPhone XR and 7/8 may need NFC Tag Reader from the Control Centre (Settings → Control Centre → add NFC Tag Reader). When in doubt, the QR on the back always works.
Does it work on Android?
Yes, on virtually every modern Android. Make sure NFC is on (Settings → Connections → NFC). Most Pixels, Samsungs, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Sony, Motorola etc. from 2017 onwards have NFC.

Adding photos

How many photos can a tappey hold?
Every album holds 365 photos, one for every day of the year. Extra editor tappeys don't stack capacity; they just give you more than one place able to add to the same album. Lock the album whenever you're happy with it.
How do I add photos?
Hold your phone to your editor tappey (or scan its QR) and choose photos straight from your camera roll. They land on the same private timeline in date order.
Can I add photos from a computer?
Yes. Sign in to your dashboard from any browser and upload photos there. The tap is the convenient way; the dashboard is the bulk way.
Can I edit captions or remove a photo later?
Yes. From the timeline (as the editor) or from the dashboard, you can edit captions, change dates, and remove photos. Viewers can't change anything.
Can I download my photos?
Yes, any time. The dashboard has a download for the whole album, and viewers can save individual images they love.

Sharing

What’s the difference between editor and viewer tappeys?
Editor tappeys can add and edit photos. Viewer tappeys are read-only doorways into the same album. Every album holds 365 photos either way; extra editors are about convenience, not extra capacity.
Who are viewers?
Anyone you choose to give a viewer tappey to. Grandparents, godparents, close friends, the whole family. They tap to see the album you're building, no app or sign-in needed. Revoke a viewer tappey from your dashboard any time.
Can anyone in my home add or view images?
Yes. Anyone with the tappey in their hands can tap to add (editor) or view (viewer). If you would like an extra layer of security you can choose in the dashboard to require a password to access the gallery, even if you tap the tappey.
Can I block a tappey from accessing the photos?
Yes. Each tappey can be enabled or disabled individually from your dashboard. A disabled tappey will no longer open the album when tapped (or scanned), even though the keepsake itself still sits on the fridge. The owner of the tappey is always in complete control.
Can a viewer accidentally delete or edit anything?
No. Viewer tappeys are read-only at the system level. There's no edit button anywhere in their view.
Can I take a viewer back?
Any time. From the dashboard, revoke that tappey and it stops opening the album. They keep the keepsake; you keep control.
Can I give a tappey as a gift?
Yes. Add viewer tappeys at checkout and we'll post them with your editor tappey. Hand them over with the simple instructions included.

Dashboard & management

What can I do from the dashboard?
Sign in to manage everything: rename a tappey, lock the album so nothing else can be added, disable a tappey, order more for the same timeline, edit captions in bulk, and download all your photos.
Can I lock an album when it’s done?
Yes. Lock it and no further uploads are accepted, even from a tap. Unlock again whenever you like.
Can I have more than one tappey on one album?
Yes. One album can have multiple editor and viewer tappeys, all opening the same private timeline. The album still holds 365 photos in total; the extra editors just mean more places (or homes) able to add to it.
Can I have more than one album?
Yes. Order a new tappey for each chapter (a year of artwork, baby's first year, each school year). Each is its own private album, all listed on your dashboard.

Lost or broken

What if I lose my tappey?
Your photos are never lost. They live on secure Google Cloud storage, kept indefinitely and tied to your account, not to the keepsake itself. Sign in to your dashboard and disable the lost tappey so it stops opening the album. Order a replacement at any time and it will be linked to the same album with all the photos intact.
What if my tappey gets damaged?
Same answer: your photos are never lost or deleted, they live on secure Google Cloud storage indefinitely. If a tappey arrives damaged or fails within 30 days, we'll replace it free of charge. Outside that window, contact us and we'll sort a replacement at cost, linked to the same album.
What if a viewer loses theirs?
Same thing: revoke that specific tappey from the dashboard. Order them a new viewer tappey if you want them back in the loop.
What happens if my phone breaks?
Nothing. The album lives in your account, not on the phone. Sign in on a new device and tap the tappey as usual.
